Who Makes MAZDA?

Mazda Logo

Mazda vehicles are made by the Mazda Motor Corporation, which is based in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Mazda is well-known for its rotary engine technology and its KODO design, which gives its vehicles the appearance of being in motion even while standing still. Read on to learn more about who owns Mazda and what makes the Mazda brand unique next to others in the auto industry.

Who Owns MAZDA? The MAZDA Motor Corporation!

In 1920, the Mazda Motor Corporation was founded in Hiroshima, Japan. Mazda started out making three-wheel motorcycles, known as “Autorickshaws.” In 1930s, Autorickshaws were the highlight of Mazda sponsored events, which caused the popularity of motorized carts to boom. The first passenger vehicle was built in 1940, but Mazda was mainly known for its motorized carts. Cost-effective cars were in style, so Mazda began creating designs for different types of vehicles, including compact cars and trucks. This led to the development of the Mazda rotary engine.

What Makes MAZDA a Unique Brand?

Mazda has since developed SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, which encompasses more than engine power. It has also revolutionized other key vehicle components, such as manual transmissions, automatic transmissions, chassis designs, and vehicle bodies. New Mazda vehicles feature SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, so the rotary engine that gave Mazda its fame initially has been fully transformed. Equipped with new and innovative technologies, Mazda vehicles like the Mazda CX-5, Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, and Mazda CX-9 are chosen for their fuel efficiency, practical power, and immediately recognizable style.

In addition to performance features, Mazda has turned its focus toward advancing their safety technologies. Found select models and trims, features like the following will improve your driving experience on Ashland roads:

  • Rear View Monitor
  • Roll Stability Control
  • Hill Launch Assist
  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Lane-keep Assist
