2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Performance Features

As a full-hybrid SUV, the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is powered by both gas and electricity. It has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder internal combustion engine (gas) as well as three electric motors and a hybrid EV battery pack. As a hybrid SUV, it doesn’t need to be plugged in to recharge. The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid battery is charged via the gas engine and regenerative braking, which converts the energy used when you slow or stop your vehicle. This Mazda SUV’s powertrain is paired with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (e-CVT).

The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid generates 219 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. It gets an EPA-estimated 39 mpg/city, 37 mpg/highway, and 38 mpg/combined. When properly equipped, the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid has a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.

All trim levels of this hybrid SUV are equipped with electronic all-wheel drive (e-AWD), which uses the electric motors to send independent power to the front and rear wheels. When there’s limited front-wheel traction, the rear motor sends power directly to the rear wheels.

The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid also features Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) with two driving modes: power and trail. In power mode, acceleration response is boosted when necessary. In trail mode, this SUV optimizes traction for different road conditions.
