Mazda Will Build Greenest Car Engine

Mazda plans to have the greenest engine around by 2013 and if everything goes right they will. Mazda's plan is to implement a 70 miles per gallon drive train into their upcoming MAZDA2. A Mazda spokesman clarified the 70 MPG result was from a Japanese test cycle. Fuel economy numbers will be lower in the United States, but still well above the competition's.

The official announcement is a "15 percent better gas mileage than the existing model."
