Mazda RX-8 bids farewell with Special-Edition Spirit R

The Special Edition will be based on the RX-8 Type RS and E and will be available with both 6-speed automatic transmission and 6-speed manual versions. Front-side and curtain SRS airbag system, previously offered as option only, will now be standard on the Spirit R model.
The exterior of the new model, is really what sets it apart from it predecessor. Equipped with bronze alloy wheels and available in Aluminum Metallic, Sparkling Black Mica and Crystal White Pear Mica color, the special Edition has a luxury look. In the inside specially made SPIRIT R bucket seats from RECARO have a sportier feel and look.
"Although RX-8 production is ending, the rotary engine will always represents the spirit of Mazda and Mazda remains committed to its ongoing development," 1 said Takashi Yamanouchi, president and CEO of Mazda.
Even though the Mazda RX-8 is on its last run, the automaker will continue to release innovative new technologies. For instance, the new CX-5 compact crossover, will be manufactured with super-strength steel, the use of which enables thinner vehicle parts and sizable savings in vehicle bulk. This new comer will be available for test drive at Whitten Brothers Mazda, 900 Johnston Willis Drive, Richmond, VA in the coming year.
